Planning Engineer

Overview

As Planning Engineer, you will deliver integrated planning and scheduling across the full project lifecycle to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery and quality. You will work within a collaboration-driven environment aligned to Soben’s growth and its Accenture-backed Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice. You’ll tackle schedule risks, performance forecasting, and progress reporting to senior teams and clients. The role combines technical planning leadership with cross-functional coordination to drive project success and delivery certainty. A key hook is applying advanced scheduling and EVM methods to complex infrastructure programmes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 across the full lifecycle
• Create baseline programmes aligned with scope, milestones, and contracts
• Monitor progress, update schedules with actual data, and forecast completion
• Perform critical path and schedule risk analysis, ensuring mitigation strategies
• Produce planning reports, narratives, and dashboards for teams, management, and clients
• Apply Earned Value Management to track performance and support cost/schedule control
• Manage schedule risks and contingencies with robust change control
• Coordinate with project managers, commercial, contractors, and disciplines to ensure alignment
• Support NEC3 contract planning and contractual requirement adherence
• Conduct resource loading, expenditure tracking, and forecasting
• Lead progress meetings and drive corrective actions
• Mentor junior planners and promote planning best practices
