Cyber Security Assurance Consultant

Overview

In this role you will lead security assurance across secure networks and cloud environments within UK Defence projects. You will own risk assessments, compliance documentation and security frameworks to ensure alignment with MOD standards. You will oversee audits and remediation tracking, and advise stakeholders on security risks and regulatory requirements. This position centers on GRC-driven security in a highly secure environment, offering impact on governance, risk management and compliance. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to reinforce DEFENCE cybersecurity posture and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead security assurance across secure networks and cloud systems
• Manage risk assessments, security frameworks and compliance documentation
• Ensure alignment with MOD standards, including Def Stan 05-138 and the Cyber Security Model
• Conduct audits, track remediation plans and support external assessments
• Advise stakeholders on security risks and regulatory requirements

Key requirements

• Cyber security experience within a UK MOD or Defence environment
• Strong knowledge of Def Stan 05-138, DCPP Cyber Security Model and NCSC guidance
• Experience in GRC, risk assessment, compliance and security assurance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Security clearance required, subject to the relevant vetting process
