Mobile Fabric Engineer (NW London)

Overview

In this role you will deliver high-quality building fabric maintenance across MET Police sites in North West London. You will perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs, using multi-trade skills to keep estates compliant and safe. You’ll work closely with clients and site teams to minimize disruption, keep accurate records, and support emergency call-outs as needed. Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and reactive fabric repairs across MET Police buildings
• Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general building fabric tasks
• Complete minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, walls, partitions, and finishes
• Ensure all work meets safety standards and contractual SLAs/KPIs
• Maintain accurate records using Mitie systems (job sheets, asset updates, compliance)
• Liaise professionally with client and site personnel to minimize disruption
• Diagnose issues, propose solutions, escalate complex problems
• Participate in out-of-hours rota for emergency police estate support

Key requirements

• Proven experience in building fabric or multi-trade role (carpentry preferred)
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong health & safety understanding and safe working practices
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites
• Ability to pass Metropolitan Police vetting (essential)
