HSE Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead day-to-day health, safety and environmental activities at the Hull site, partnering with Operations to embed a strong safety culture. You will influence how we work, drive improvements, and ensure compliance while supporting leaders and teams on the shop floor. This is an opportunity to shape practical safety practices that empower people to work safely and contribute to operational excellence. You will connect with cross-functional teams and external regulators to keep safety front and center.

Responsibilities

• Make safety part of everyday life by building awareness and ownership across site
• Drive continuous improvement of HSE practices and the working environment
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation (COSHH, RIDDOR, PUWER, LOLER)
• Lead and support incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement improvements
• Maintain alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
• Identify training needs and provide practical guidance to colleagues
• Communicate HSE information clearly with site leadership, HSE community and regulators

Key requirements

• Experience in health, safety and environmental roles within manufacturing or similar operational environments (chemical manufacturing preferred)
• NEBOSH Diploma qualified
• Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and application in busy environments
• Experience supporting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits and management systems
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and environmental compliance
• Confident in challenging constructively and influencing decisions at all levels
• Proactive, collaborative, people-focused attitude
• Chemical manufacturing or paints/coatings experience valued but not essential
