Director, Compliance Oversight – Testing, Monitoring and Issues Management, EMEA

Overview

In this role you will lead regional compliance oversight for Financial Crimes, Core, and Markets Compliance in MUFG’s EMEA hub. You’ll embed global standards while adapting to local regulations, guiding a team to monitor, test, and manage issues with discipline and transparency. You’ll work with global function owners and local teams to safeguard regulatory adherence and enterprise integrity at scale. Responsibilities

• Lead regional execution of compliance monitoring, testing plans, and issues management across Financial Crimes, Core, and Markets Compliance
• Oversee annual Compliance Test Plan from scoping to reporting and escalation
• Review monitoring outcomes to identify emerging risks and root causes
• Provide guidance on issue identification, severity, action planning, validation, and closure
• Coordinate with global function owners and regional leadership to ensure execution consistency
• Oversee monitoring routines and assess control effectiveness across the region
• Challenge the adequacy of action plans and report issue status to senior management
• Support talent development and maintain transparent reporting to stakeholders across jurisdictions

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in global organisations with managerial roles leading teams
• Deep knowledge of banking laws, financial sector regulations, and risk management
• Proven track record implementing global operating models across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong stakeholder management and executive-facing communication abilities
• Experience with governance forums and regulatory remediation programmes or transformations
• Proficiency with GRC platforms, data analytics tools, and testing analytics software
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior management reporting
