Leaders in Care is recruiting an Independent Reviewing Officer for a children’s service in North Wales. This is an opportunity to provide independent oversight, champion high-quality care planning and challenge drift and delay for children who are looked after.
The role Chair looked-after children’s reviews, ensuring meaningful participation from children and young people. Scrutinise care plans and monitor progress towards safe, stable and lasting outcomes. Provide constructive challenge where practice or plans fall short. Work collaboratively with social workers, carers and partner agencies while maintaining independence. Identify practice themes and contribute to service improvement. About you A qualified social worker with current Social Care Wales registration, or eligibility to register before starting. Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services. Experience as an IRO, or relevant senior-level experience in reviewing, chairing and quality assurance. Strong knowledge of Welsh legislation and guidance relating to looked-after children. Confident chairing complex meetings and providing evidence-based professional challenge.
