About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, within our Complex Needs Housing Project, you will support people with a history of substance and/or alcohol misuse, mental health issues, homelessness and/or criminal justice issues, who are living in supported housing projects.

You will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to provide a range of interventions to support recovery and help people achieve independent living in the community.

You will also work alongside colleagues who will provide psychological therapies to support residents to improve their wellbeing.

Part of the role also focusses on health and safety, risk management, housing compliance, and maintaining safe, clean, and well-managed homes for our residents.

You will ensure residents are safe and engaged in positive and meaningful activities in the community that will support their recovery.

You will be required to work flexibly from different sites and be required to work some evenings and weekends.

About you

This is an entry-level role, and we understand that not all candidates will have direct work experience in a similar position. We provide training to all of our Housing Support Workers, enabling them to deliver the role confidently and in a holistic, person-centred way. Whilst a passion for working with people affected by addiction is crucial, candidates may also have experience of working with people with complex needs including challenging or negative behaviour, substance misuse and/or criminal offending backgrounds and supporting them to make changes to their lives. You may also have:

  • Experience or an understanding of supporting people to develop their personal strengths and sustain their tenancy within a ‘supported housing’ environment.
  • Specialist harm reduction experience.
  • Experience of developing partnerships and working collaboratively with other organisations.
  • A coaching/ counselling/ Health and Social Care qualification.
  • An understanding of the harmful effects associated with drug and alcohol misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships.

Working in our Lancashire services

By joining the Emerging Futures workforce, you become part of a nationwide team dedicated to providing addiction recovery support services throughout the United Kingdom. This role joins part of a larger team in Lancashire, with colleagues working across our services in Rossendale, Hyndburn and Chorley.
