Description
We currently have two 36-hour Support Worker positions available at our Westhill Service.
Due to service requirements only female applicants will be considered for this role.
We are looking for people who genuinely care
Working in social care is more than a job. The people we support rely on our staff to be consistent, respectful, reliable and committed to doing things properly.
We are looking for people who genuinely want to make a difference and who take pride in providing high-quality support.
You will be expected to:
- Treat every person with dignity, respect and kindness.
- Take the time to understand the individual, rather than simply completing tasks.
- Follow support plans, risk assessments, policies and agreed ways of working.
- Take responsibility for your actions and be accountable for the support you provide.
- Complete records accurately and understand that good recording is an important part of safe care.
- Speak up when something is not right and ask for help when you need it.
- Be willing to learn, accept feedback and continually develop your practice.
- Work reliably and contribute positively to your team.
- Maintain professional standards, even when working without direct supervision.
- Put the needs, rights, choices and wellbeing of the people we support at the heart of what you do.
We don’t expect you to know everything when you start. We do expect you to care, to be willing to learn, and to take responsibility for doing your job well.
If you are looking for a role where you can simply complete your shift and go home, this may not be the right role for you. If you want to build positive relationships, support people to have good lives and be part of a team that takes pride in the quality of its work, we would like to hear from you.
About the service
Our supported living services support adults with learning disabilities to live in their own homes, with flexible, tailored support based on their individual needs, choices and aspirations.
We believe people should be supported to live as independently as possible and to have control over their own lives. Our role is to provide the support they need, while encouraging independence rather than doing things for people unnecessarily.
About the role
As a Support Worker, you will build positive relationships with the people you support and help them to live their lives in the way they choose.
Your role may include:
- Supporting people with personal care and daily living.
- Administering medication in line with training and individual support plans.
- Supporting people to access activities, hobbies and the wider community.
- Encouraging and developing independence and life skills.
- Supporting people to make choices and communicate their wishes.
- Following individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records.
- Supporting a safe, clean and comfortable home environment.
- Working alongside colleagues and communicating effectively as part of a team.
- Recognising changes in people’s needs and responding appropriately.
No two days are necessarily the same. You may be supporting someone with their morning routine, helping them prepare a meal, accompanying them into the community, supporting an activity or simply spending time doing something they enjoy.
We are looking for people who genuinely care.
At Archway, we expect our Support Workers to take their responsibilities seriously.
We are looking for people who want to work in social care because they care about people, not simply because they are looking for a job.
We don’t expect you to be perfect. We do expect you to care, to learn, to take responsibility and to do your best for the people we support every day.
A relevant SVQ Level 2, or willingness to work towards this, is essential.
If you are someone who takes pride in helping others, wants to build meaningful relationships and is committed to doing the job properly, we would like to hear from you.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship to work in the UK.
Please note: The salary displayed above is a Full-Time Equivalent based on a 39 hour week.
Benefits of working for Archway
- Opportunities to gain on-the-job qualifications and career progression
- Comprehensive induction and training programme
- Ongoing support and supervision
- Enhanced Annual Leave (5yr and 10 yr milestones)
- Company sick pay (dependent on length of service)
