Job Description:

IT Support Engineer (Cyber Security & Compliance)

Finelight Group | Norwich (Hybrid) | Full-time, Permanent | £30,000 to £32,000

Finelight Group is a fast-growing international B2B events and media group, built through strategic acquisitions. Each of our businesses keeps its own brand, leadership and market focus, and is supported by shared Group services, including a central Technology team.

We’re moving from legacy on‑premises infrastructure to a cloud‑first Microsoft stack (Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft 365). We’re looking for a hands‑on IT Support Engineer to keep the Group running day to day, help deliver that migration, and own the practical side of our cyber compliance.

The Role

Reporting to our Head of Technology, you’ll provide first and second‑line support across all Group brands. You’ll also manage devices and platforms and maintain the evidence and controls behind frameworks such as Cyber Essentials and UK GDPR. As we acquire new businesses, you’ll help bring their IT estates into the Group.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage device compliance, configuration and app deployment in Microsoft Intune
  • Administer Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive), including joiners, leavers, licensing and permissions
  • Support the move to the cloud while keeping our remaining legacy kit (file servers, on‑prem AD, older applications) running
  • Own the helpdesk queue: triage and resolve tickets within SLA, and escalat when needed
  • Build and image equipment for new starters, and securely wipe and decommission it for leavers
  • Troubleshoot hardware and networks (Wi‑Fi, switches, VPN, printers, DHCP/DNS) across our sites
  • Gather and organise evidence for Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus audits and renewals
  • Track and report on device and user compliance, and help with patching, EDR alerts and conditional access
  • Help build out our security awareness programme, including staff training and reporting on results
  • Audit and integrate the IT estates of newly acquired businesses, and support supplier risk assessments
  • Keep documentation and the hardware and software asset register up to date

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 2 years’ hands‑on IT experience, including practical use of Microsoft Intune
  • Microsoft 365 administration experience (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Working knowledge of cyber compliance concepts such as Cyber Essentials, UK GDPR, policy controls and audit evidence
  • Confidence explaining security basics (phishing, MFA, password hygiene) to non-technical colleagues
  • Good grounding in networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VPN)
  • Comfort working across a mix of legacy and modern cloud systems
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise well and know when to elevate
  • Desirable: Microsoft certifications (MS-900, MD-102, SC-900) and/or Cyber Essentials experience

The Details

  • Based at our Norwich head office with some hybrid flexibility
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 (37.5 hours)
  • Occasional travel to satellite offices during peak periods
  • 25 days’ holiday plus UK bank holidays
  • If you want a varied role where you can see the impact of your work, and you’d like to help shape the IT foundations of a growing group, we’d like to hear from you.
