Job Description:

Business Development Lead – Professional Services

£55,000–£75,000 base | £110,000–£150,000 OTE | 4-day working week

We’re looking for an experienced Business Development Lead to help drive growth across a fast-growing, nationally recognised professional services group.

The business has an established and expanding client base, alongside a broad range of services across accountancy, hiring, HR, payroll, legal and other specialist areas.

A key part of the role will be proactively engaging existing and prospective clients, presenting the wider range of services available across the group and identifying where there is an opportunity to add further value.

The Role

This is a highly proactive, client-facing business development role.

You’ll spend your time meeting business owners and senior decision-makers, understanding what is happening in their business, presenting the wider group proposition and identifying relevant opportunities across multiple service lines.

A significant part of the commercial opportunity already exists within the group’s established client base. Many clients currently use only part of the wider service offering, creating considerable scope to broaden those relationships.

You’ll also create new conversations with prospective clients and introduce them to the wider group.

You’ll:

Proactively engage existing clients and prospective new clients

Present the full range of services available across the group

Lead strong commercial conversations with business owners and senior decision-makers

Understand the key priorities, challenges and plans within each business

Identify opportunities across multiple service lines

Bring the relevant specialist team into the conversation once an opportunity is identified

Work with Partners and Associate Partners to create access to existing client relationships

Generate new commercial conversations outside the existing client base

Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities

Track the opportunities you originate and the revenue generated from them

Increase the breadth of services clients use across the group

You won’t be expected to be the technical expert across every service line.

Your role is to create the conversation, understand the business, present what the wider group can offer and identify where there is an opportunity.

The relevant specialist can then take the technical conversation forward.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll come from a professional services or complex B2B sales environment, with a strong track record in consultative selling.

You’ll be able to demonstrate previous success in creating opportunities, developing new business and generating revenue through high-quality commercial conversations.

You’ll bring:

A proven track record of B2B sales performance, with clear evidence of revenue generated, targets achieved or commercial growth delivered

Strong experience in consultative selling, where understanding the client and identifying the right solution is central to the sales process

Experience selling professional services, complex solutions or multiple service lines

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Confidence engaging business owners and senior decision-makers

The ability to quickly understand a business, ask the right questions and identify commercial opportunities

Strong commercial judgement

The ability to create momentum and move opportunities forward

A disciplined approach to activity, pipeline management and follow-up

Experience within accountancy, legal, recruitment, HR, financial services, consultancy or a related professional services environment would be particularly relevant.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the centre of a major growth opportunity for the group.

You’ll have an established client base to work with, direct access to Partners and senior leaders, and an expanding range of services that can solve more of the challenges our clients face.

Success will come from increasing the number and quality of commercial conversations taking place, identifying opportunities across the wider group and turning those conversations into meaningful revenue.

For the right person, there is significant earning potential and the chance to have a visible impact on the next stage of the group’s growth.

The Package

  • £55,000–£75,000 base salary
  • £110,000–£150,000 OTE
  • 4-day working week
  • Performance-related earning potential linked to the commercial opportunities and revenue you originate
  • Significant autonomy
  • Regular exposure to Partners and senior leadership
  • The opportunity to play a key role in the group’s growth
  • Strong long-term progression as the business continues to expand
