The opportunity
Our client is looking for a technically minded PMO professional to support digital engineering and systems integration initiatives across complex aerospace and defence programmes.
You will work with engineering teams, architects, business stakeholders and external suppliers to coordinate projects connecting engineering platforms and enterprise systems. This will involve maintaining delivery plans, managing dependencies, tracking supplier commitments and supporting technical governance.
The role would suit someone with strong PMO, project coordination or technical project management experience who is comfortable working with engineering applications, systems interfaces and integration technologies.
What you will be doing
- Coordinate Digital Thread and systems integration initiatives across multiple applications, engineering domains and suppliers.
- Maintain project plans, milestones, dependencies, actions, risks and issues.
- Track activities and deliverables, identifying delays and escalating issues that could affect delivery.
- Organise project meetings, technical workshops and supplier discussions.
- Record decisions and follow up actions from architecture reviews, technical discussions and delivery meetings.
- Support the development and monitoring of integration roadmaps and implementation plans.
- Prepare project status reports, management presentations and steering committee materials.
- Maintain structured documentation covering interfaces, integrations, decisions and outstanding issues.
- Coordinate technical requirements between teams and applications.
- Monitor supplier activities, commitments and deliverables.
- Support governance across the engineering application and integration landscape.
- Help maintain and prioritise the Digital Thread delivery backlog.
The technical environment
Digital Thread initiatives connect information throughout the engineering lifecycle, enabling traceability between requirements, system models, engineering data, product structures, software development and verification evidence.
You could work across:
- Model Based Systems Engineering tools.
- Product Safety and Product Security applications.
- REST APIs and OSLC integrations.
- Middleware and enterprise integration platforms.
You do not need to be a software developer, but you must be comfortable following technical discussions and translating them into clear plans, actions and delivery priorities.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in PMO, project coordination or technical project management, typically gained over three to seven years.
- Experience supporting complex IT or engineering IT projects involving multiple systems and stakeholders.
- Aerospace and defence experience, ideally supporting MOD, Defence Digital or UK aerospace programmes.
- Strong planning, tracking and organisational skills.
- Experience managing dependencies, risks, issues and action plans.
- A good understanding of systems integration concepts and application interfaces.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, architects, business stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong documentation, reporting and presentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent professional English.
Desirable skills and experience
- Previous involvement in Digital Thread or digital engineering initiatives.
- Knowledge of PLM, ALM, MBSE or requirements management environments.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, IBM ELM or DOORS.
- Understanding of REST APIs, OSLC, integration architectures and data flows.
- Experience coordinating multiple suppliers or systems integrators.
- Understanding of enterprise architecture and systems integration patterns.
About you
You will be proactive, organised and comfortable working independently. You will take ownership of actions, challenge unclear information and identify dependencies before they affect delivery.
You will be able to understand the context behind technical activities, keep stakeholders informed and help teams move decisions and deliverables through to completion.
Security and working arrangements
Active SC clearance is mandatory, with DV preferred. Sole UK nationality is required for this assignment.
The role is based in Reading, with a minimum of 50% of your time spent onsite.
