Salary: Up to £75,000, with potential flexibility towards £80,000
Hybrid working 2 days pw with flexbility | Pension: 14.5% employer contribution
We are looking for a Head of QA to take ownership of testing with an education focused client who are going through a significant period of transformation following a restructure.
This is an opportunity for an established Head of QA or even QA Lead, or a strong Senior QA Engineer ready to step into leadership, to shape the testing strategy, build capability and influence how quality is approached across software development teams.
You’ll initially work with a small team, so you’ll need to be comfortable operating at both a strategic and practical level, getting involved in conversations with engineering and product teams while defining the longer-term approach.
What you’ll be doing
- Define and evolve the organisation’sQA and testing strategy, helping demonstrate the value of quality engineering across the business.
- Lead a small QA/Test function with the opportunity to grow and develop the capability
- Work closely with software engineering, product and technology teams to embed quality in SDLC
- Introduce a risk-based approach to testing, ensuring effort is focused where it adds the greatest value.
- Define a pragmatic test automation strategy across a technology estate including Java, Oracle and MuleSoft (Not essential you have worked with these but advantageous)
- Participate directly in engineering and product discussions, steering conversations and challenging approaches to quality and testing where appropriate.
- Build effective feedback loops between QA, engineering and product teams.
- Balance strategic leadership with remaining close enough to delivery to make a tangible difference
Working environment
Hybrid working model with 2 days per week in their central London office, however, this needn’t be every single week. The cadence will depend on when it is required. As this is a leadership position, you’ll need to be comfortable being onsite when required and proactively bringing teams together face-to-face where it adds value.
There is good flexibility around personal and family commitments, alongside an expectation that people remain available and engaged during the working day.
Salary & benefits
- Salary marketed at up to £75,000, with potential flexibility towards £80,000 for the right candidate albeit not confirmed that this can be met
- Excellent pension: 6.1% employee contribution with a 14.5% employer contribution.
- Annual inflationary salary uplift within the standard salary structure.
- Hybrid/blended working approach.
- Supportive and flexible working environment.
Interview process – 2 stages
