Low Latency Rust Software Engineer

Overview

In this senior role, you will shape low-latency trading infrastructure within Citi’s High Performance Architectures team. You’ll lead hands-on development in Rust (and Java), contributing to event-sourced microservices and in-house frameworks for ultra-fast markets. You’ll work with cross-functional partners to integrate capabilities, tune performance, and mentor juniors, helping Citi scale its eTrading platforms. This is an impact-driven opportunity to influence real-time finance systems at scale, with mentoring and hybrid work options.

Responsibilities

• 90% hands-on development in Rust or Java codebase within a low-latency, microservices-based framework
• Lead integration of functions to meet goals, deploy new products and optimize processes
• Analyse complex business and system processes to design high-level solutions
• Provide world-class expertise in Java low-latency development and related technologies
• Utilise deep knowledge of main system flows to achieve technology goals
• Consult with end users to translate function specifications into system design
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders and external stakeholders
• Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers

Key requirements

• Subject Matter Expert in Applications Development
• Experience in Algorithmic Trading development, preferably in low-latency environments
• Experience with Market Data handling and technologies (time-series databases e.g. KDB)
• Leadership, project management and development skills
• Strong coding skills in Java for mission-critical frameworks based on event sourcing microservices
• Knowledge of modern Java, JVM, Linux, system calls and Kernel
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and kernel bypass (e.g. Solarflare OpenOnload)
• Performance tuning and architectural design能力
