Project Controls Lead

Overview

In this role you will lead the Project Controls function within UKNNL’s PMO, guiding cost, schedule and risk controls across complex projects. You will manage a skilled Project Controls team, embedding a governance framework and driving continuous improvement. You’ll interact with senior stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and informed decision-making. Responsibilities

• Line management and mentoring of the Project Controls team to ensure effective delivery of portfolio services
• Develop and embed a Project Controls framework aligned to UKNNL PMA and Delivery Operations
• Monitor performance, identify capability gaps and drive team development
• Lead functional continuous improvement initiatives for governance, processes, tools and systems
• Provide input to PMO senior management reviews and manage related actions
• Support cost control and reporting services for Project Managers and Sponsors
• Provide senior oversight on complex projects and risk reviews, leading schedule risk analysis and mitigation strategies
• Generate detailed forecast cost estimates, WBS, and quantity tracking mechanisms
• Implement project control techniques (earned value, EAC, critical path, risk) to deliver projects
• Prepare and forecast expenditure profiles, accruals, and progress reports with trend analysis
• Communicate current and potential issues to the Project Manager and key stakeholders

Key requirements

• Line management/leadership experience in a Project Controls delivery environment
• Experience delivering Senior Project Controls services on complex projects/programmes/portfolios
• Involvement in strategic-level discussions and development of functional/service delivery strategies
• Ability to present to senior levels across organisations
• Commercial awareness to support customer-facing projects
• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (UK residency requirements)
