Financial Accountant

Overview

In this role you will support the day-to-day finance function within a growing Huddersfield manufacturing business. You will produce accurate financial reporting, run month-end processes, manage reconciliations and implement strong controls. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and management team to provide actionable insights on costs, stock, margins and manufacturing performance. This is an opportunity to influence financial performance and drive process improvements within a collaborative finance function.

• Salary 50k-55k per annum

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Monitor stock, production costs and margins
• Support product costing and analysis of manufacturing costs
• Analyse financial performance and provide variance commentary
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Prepare VAT returns and assist statutory accounts
• Maintain strong financial controls across the business
• Support external audit and year-end processes
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and controls
• Collaborate with operational and senior management teams
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support as required

Key requirements

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role
• Strong technical accounting and month-end experience
• Experience within a manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous
• Good understanding of stock, costing, margins and financial controls
• Strong Excel skills and experience using finance/accounting systems
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Good communication skills with the ability to work across finance and operational teams
