Overview

As a Sr. Software Engineer in Proofpoint’s Threat Response team, you design, build, and operate a scalable cloud platform for a global, multi-tenant SaaS environment. You own cloud architecture, infrastructure reliability, security, and operational excellence, contributing to resilient, secure services. You’ll shape architecture and deployment pipelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business continuity and disaster recovery goals. This role offers hands-on cloud engineering at scale, with impact across security and threat response.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate scalable cloud platforms for a global multi-tenant SaaS environment
• Build highly available and resilient architectures supporting business continuity and DR objectives
• Design secure networking solutions across AWS environments, regions, and accounts
• Manage containerized application platforms and deployment pipelines
• Drive observability, monitoring, automation, and reliability engineering practices
• Support database operations, upgrades, migrations, and platform scalability initiatives

Key requirements

• Proven experience building enterprise or SaaS applications in Java and/or Python
• Hands-on AWS networking and security experience (VPCs, CIDR, Security Groups, cross-account IAM, secure connectivity, DR, regional failover)
• Knowledge of Terraform (modules, state management, plan/apply in shared environments)
• Experience operating Kubernetes-based platforms and modern CI/CD pipelines in production
• PostgreSQL or relational DB experience (upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, backup, recovery, scalability)
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted engineering tools for design, implementation, testing, debugging, and operations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
