Overview

In this Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist role at Kingston Hospital, you provide medical leadership to the 24/7 Liaison Psychiatry service for adults, including older adults, ensuring safe, high-quality care and governance. You work with the team manager to meet performance indicators and drive service improvement. You will lead on essential sections of care (e.g., S.12 responsibilities) and contribute to teaching, audits, and cross-team collaboration. Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership to Kingston Hospital Liaison Psychiatry Team
• Collaborate with Team Manager to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality service meeting KPIs
• Participate in audits and clinical governance; proactively address issues and escalate when needed
• Share responsibility for safe care with team manager and colleagues
• Lead on S.12 cover for ED/AAU and guidance for older adult presentations within the acute hospital
• Contribute to teaching of medical students, junior doctors and nurses
• Support cross-coverage and multidisciplinary collaboration across age groups (18+; older adults)
• Participate in ongoing service development and governance procedures

Key requirements

• Primary Medical degree
• Full GMC registration
• Inclusion on GMC Specialist Register or eligible within 3 months of CCT
• Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act
• Minimum three years of Higher Psychiatric Training
• Knowledge of main treatment approaches for severe mental illness (psychopharmacology)
• Experience in clinical teaching; CPD and audit involvement
