Material Planning Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead material planning for Ownership Services to ensure high parts availability worldwide for legacy, current, and future models while minimizing investment and obsolescence risk. You will manage a small team, drive MRP and master data activities, and collaborate with global networks to optimise spare parts supply. The position offers impact across sourcing, planning, and logistics for a premium automotive brand. You will shape planning processes and contribute to broader Parts Operations strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of three material planners to deliver high service standards and KPIs
• Achieve annual targets for global parts availability across fast-moving, overall, and accessories/retrofit categories
• Oversee day-to-day sourcing, stocking strategy, and SAP-based MRP to maintain required availability
• Collaborate with other parts operations teams to resolve material flow issues and focus on problem topics
• Support wider Parts Operation strategies (run-out, launches, quality, warehouse operations, dealer ordering)
• Ensure robust MRP and master data processes within RR Ownership Services
• Manage mid-level supplier escalations to secure efficient parts supply
• Project management of key topics in day-to-day Material Planning
• Oversee IT systems and master data management related to material planning
• Support inventory control from a financial perspective

Key requirements

• Degree level in Business or Engineering (or equivalent)
• Operational experience in spare parts warehousing and transport processes
• Strong understanding of supply chain management to reduce costs and improve responsiveness
• Project management experience
• Experience leading a diverse team
• Excellent communication with assertiveness
• Awareness of legal, social, cultural, and linguistic market differences
• Experience with BMW Group IT systems, SAP, MS Office
• Knowledge of international exports and import regulations
• Analytical, logical, and self-motivated with creative initiative
