Senior Software Engineer II – Cash Management

Overview

In this role you will own end-to-end product solutions in Wise’s Cash Management area, collaborating with product managers, partner banks and engineers to design, build and operate backend services. You drive technical tradeoffs between delivery speed, reliability and maintainability in a domain handling international payments, funding and currency conversion. You’ll shape interfaces across teams and improve system observability and performance. This is a hands-on, ownership-rich role with opportunities to influence architectural decisions and expand technical scope.

• Starting salary: 111,000 – 145,000 + RSUs

Responsibilities

• Own solutions from problem to production, collaborating with PMs and engineers to design, build, test and operate backend services.
• Make thoughtful technical decisions, balancing delivery time, reliability and maintainability.
• Build across system boundaries by defining clear interfaces and understanding impact on the payment journey.
• Improve operated systems through testing, observability, and diagnosing production issues.
• Help the team succeed by mentoring and sharing domain knowledge through reviews and pairing.

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience building or contributing to large-scale distributed systems
• Strong backend engineering experience with relational databases, event-driven systems, and OO language proficiency
• Product mindset: ability to articulate customer problems and value of solutions
• Ownership with autonomy, willingness to navigate ambiguity and involve others as needed
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, cross-team effectiveness
