Java Developer

Overview

As a Java Developer at Citi in the Global Market Access EMEA team, you contribute to the market access gateway that connects Citi to EM trading venues, enabling electronic execution. You will work within a cross-functional tech group to design, build, test, and maintain systems that translate trading messages to exchange formats. You’ll tackle security, performance, and reliability challenges in a high-stakes financial environment. Responsibilities

• Contribute to application design, enhancements, and maintenance with input from the Technology team
• Consult with users and technology groups to propose programming solutions and support customer exposure systems
• Apply fundamentals of programming languages to design specifications and implement fixes
• Analyze applications for vulnerabilities, perform testing and debugging
• Act as advisor or coach to junior analysts and share knowledge
• Identify problems, analyze information, and implement technical solutions
• Operate with limited supervision and exercise independent judgment as an SME
• Assess risk in business decisions and ensure compliance with laws, rules, and Citi policies

Key requirements

• Commercial experience in Java and Python software development
• Experience in applications support and maintenance
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
