Job Description:

Finance Business Partner | Series A Advanced Manufacturing Scale-Up | London / Hybrid

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be partnering with a Series A advanced manufacturing business that is combining software, AI and a rapidly growing manufacturing network to change how physical products are made. Growth is steep, international expansion is under way, and finance is being brought in-house to support what comes next. You would join at the point the function is being designed, working alongside a Finance Director who backs ambitious people and moves them quickly.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Business Partner will act as their right hand in building a finance function in-house. The team today is the Finance Director plus at least two further hires, with accounts payable and receivable remaining outsourced under your oversight. This is not an AP or AR accounting role, and it is not a pure FP&A hire either: the remit is broad and forward-looking, covering FP&A and pricing, applying AI and automation to how finance works, supporting month-end and management accounts, and improving how the function operates as it comes in-house. It is a hands‑on role with a strategic edge, suited to someone with a start-up mindset who wants wide exposure, with progression into finance leadership or a commercial role depending on the individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Finance Director to bring finance in-house, building the processes, controls and ways of working the function will run on.
  • Own FP&A, preparing budgets, forecasts and financial models that support commercial decisions as the business scales.
  • Build pricing and unit economics analysis, working with operations and commercial teams to understand what drives margin.
  • Identify and implement AI and automation across finance, removing manual work so the function scales without headcount scaling with it.
  • Support the month-end close and management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Oversee the outsourced AP and AR providers, making sure the data flowing into reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Build relationships with budget owners across manufacturing, engineering, operations and commercial teams, challenging spend constructively.
  • Turn financial data into clear management reporting and practical insight for senior leadership.
  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Industry experience in management accounting, FP&A, commercial finance or business partnering, ideally within a start-up or scale-up.
  • Strong grounding in accounting fundamentals and month-end processes, with excellent Excel skills.
  • Comfortable moving between analytical, commercially focused work and hands‑on finance tasks.
  • Strong communicator who builds relationships across technical, operational and commercial teams.
  • A builder mentality: you spot what is not working, take ownership and fix it without needing constant direction.
  • Exposure to AI tools, automation or finance systems implementation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering or another operationally complex environment.
  • Familiarity with unit economics, production costing or inventory.
  • Experience supporting finance across multiple jurisdictions.

Location: London, hybrid working (2 days a week in the office)

Start Date: ASAP, with up to three months’ notice acceptable
