Clinical Director – York
Ready to shape the clinical direction of a practice while helping other vets develop? Whether you’re an experienced veterinary surgeon stepping into leadership or an established Clinical Director looking for a fresh challenge, this role offers the autonomy to make a meaningful difference, with experienced support around you.
A well-established veterinary practice in York is seeking a Clinical Director to lead its people, clinical standards and operational performance across three sites. Known for high-quality care and a genuine family feel, the practice offers a supportive, collaborative setting where staff wellbeing and making people feel valued are priorities.
The role
Working alongside an established senior leadership team, you’ll help shape the practice’s future while keeping exceptional patient and client care at the heart of decisions. Your remit will combine clinical leadership, people development and commercial responsibility, giving you scope to influence both day-to-day standards and longer-term direction.
You’ll lead and support vets and team leaders, maintain excellent clinical standards and mentor colleagues as they build their skills and confidence. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to the practice’s strategy and growth, support financial performance and identify practical ways to improve how the business operates.
You won’t be expected to do this alone. An experienced Practice Manager, Team Leaders, a Business Development Director and dedicated central support teams will provide support, alongside access to a wider veterinary network.
About you
You’ll be an MRCVS-registered veterinary surgeon with sound clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patients, clients and colleagues. Enjoying the development of others is important, as is the confidence to make considered decisions and bring people with you.
Previous leadership experience would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential. If you’re ready to take that next step, full training and support will be provided, including additional leadership development.
Salary, flexibility and benefits
The salary is up to £85,000+ depending on experience. A relocation allowance and support package is available for candidates moving to the York area. A variety of working patterns and hours will be considered to support work-life balance.
Professional development includes a £1,750 CPD allowance, five days’ CPD, additional leadership training and extensive further learning and career development opportunities.
You’ll also receive 6.6 weeks’ annual leave, including bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell holiday; a Health Cash Plan; discounted private medical insurance; an Employee Assistance Programme; a workplace pension; life insurance; and a Cycle to Work Scheme.
