Data Center Engineer

UK & international projects | Full-time | Competitive salary | 4+ years’ experience

A growing data centre and technology infrastructure business is hiring an experienced Data Centre Engineer to join its team.

You’ll work across a varied project base in the UK and internationally data centre installation and infrastructure, structured cabling, hardware replacement, troubleshooting and commercial office fit-outs with real scope to develop your skills as the business expands.

What you’ll do

• Install, rack, stack and decommission servers, switches and associated data centre equipment
• Install, route, organise and patch fibre-optic and copper cabling
• Work from patching schedules, rack face layouts, work orders and technical documentation
• Identify and troubleshoot fibre, copper and hardware connectivity faults
• Replace server and network hardware components, including PSUs and PCI cards
• Support commercial office fit-out projects, including cabling and associated infrastructure
• Maintain accurate job records, update ticketing systems and flag faults, delays and risks
• Take ownership of assigned tasks leading jobs or supporting other engineers as needed

What you’ll bring

• At least four years’ hands‑on data centre experience
• Practical knowledge of racking, stacking, and fibre and copper cabling
• Confidence interpreting patching schedules, rack layouts and job‑specific instructions
• Sound understanding of patch panels and data centre cabling infrastructure
• Experience using ticketing systems and keeping accurate records
• Technical training, an apprenticeship or equivalent
• Hardware component replacement experience (PSUs, PCI cards) — highly desirable

Working arrangements

Projects across the UK and internationally, with travel and accommodation arranged as needed. You’ll need flexibility for early starts, night shifts and out-of-hours work at short notice.
