The Nutriment Company
Laverstoke Park Farm, Laverstoke, Hampshire RG25 3DR (4 days on site, 1 day from home)
About The Nutriment Company.
At Nutriment Company we are entrepreneurs, visionaries and doers. We operate in one of the fastest growing segments of FMCG right now – pet food – and we are proud to be Europe’s leading company within the natural premium segment. Our headquarters are in Stockholm and Düsseldorf, and we currently have +850 employees spread across Europe. We generate 250+ million EUR turnover with strong profitability, and we are owned by the Nordic private equity company Axcel.
At The Nutriment Company, we have a highly motivated, ambitious, and fun team that aspires to take our company to the next level, as we expand at a high pace both through organic growth and acquisitions across Europe.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Planning & Supply Chain Manager to lead all planning, procurement and supply chain activity across our UK business. This is a critical, hands‑on leadership role at the heart of our operations, directly influencing product availability, cost efficiency and gross margin performance. It suits someone who has already owned forecasting and S&OP, bought raw materials for a manufacturing site and led a team, rather than someone looking for their first management role.
You will be responsible for end‑to‑end supply chain planning, from raw material procurement through to finished goods availability, and will work closely with commercial, finance and operations teams to ensure we are always well‑positioned to meet demand efficiently and profitably. You will report to the Head of UK Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Demand & Production Planning
- Build and own accurate demand forecasts for raw materials and resale product lines over a rolling 12+ week horizon, using sales data, market trends and commercial intelligence, rather than relying on a forecast supplied by others
- Lead the monthly S&OP cycle end to end: prepare the data, run the meeting, agree the supply plan with commercial and operations, and track the actions
- Turn the forecast into a weekly production plan by line, balancing weeks of cover, line capacity, labour, raw material availability and shelf life
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to balance availability against working capital targets
- Make clear prioritisation calls when demand, capacity or raw material is constrained, and explain the trade‑offs to the business
Purchasing & Procurement
- Own the buying of all raw materials for the UK business, including fresh and frozen meat, fish and other proteins, ensuring continuity of supply at optimal cost
- Manage supplier relationships and lead negotiations end to end on price, terms, lead times and quality
- Develop and maintain a robust supplier base, including auditing, qualifying and onboarding alternative sources to mitigate supply risk
- Oversee the purchase order process, ensuring accuracy and timely execution
Supply Chain Management
- Manage inbound logistics and coordinate with third‑party logistics providers (3PLs) and freight partners
- Respond to supply shortfalls and disruptions with clear, prioritised actions: re‑planning production, securing alternative supply and communicating the impact to production, sales and customers
- Drive improvements in supply chain visibility through systems, data, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs and animal by‑product requirements (e.g. APHA), and maintain full traceability of raw materials
Cost & Margin Management
- Track and manage supply‑side costs, and deliver measurable savings and GP1 margin improvement
- Build and maintain cost models for raw materials and resale products, incorporating market trends and price movements
- Partner with finance to ensure accurate cost of goods data for budgeting, forecasting, and pricing decisions
- Define, own and report the supply chain KPIs (e.g. OTIF, forecast accuracy, weeks of cover, stock accuracy, purchase price variance), highlighting variances and corrective actions
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Line‑manage the purchasing team: set clear objectives, run 1:1s and performance reviews, develop people, and address performance issues
- Act as the primary point of contact for supply chain matters across the UK business
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including sales, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure supply plans reflect business priorities
- Present supply chain performance and risk updates to senior leadership
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in supply chain planning, procurement or operations, including at least 2 years at manager level, within food or FMCG manufacturing
- Hands‑on ownership of demand forecasting and S&OP: you have built forecasts and run the S&OP cycle yourself
- Experience buying raw materials for a manufacturing site, ideally perishable or chilled/frozen ingredients
- Experience planning production for a manufacturing site against capacity and shelf‑life constraints
- Demonstrable, quantified track record of cost reduction and margin improvement: you can show the savings in £ and explain how you delivered them
- Advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables, planning and cost models) and experience working with an ERP/MRP system
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret financial data
- Proven negotiation and supplier management skills, including leading supplier negotiations end to end
- Experience managing a team with direct reports, including setting objectives and managing performance
- Clear, concise communicator, able to present performance, risks and recommendations to senior leadership
- CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
- Previous experience in meat, fish, raw pet food or other protein‑based manufacturing
- Knowledge of BRC/food safety, traceability and animal by‑product (APHA) requirements
What you can expect:
- Opportunity to make a tangible impact in a growing company
- Competitive salary £50k-60k + bonus
- Hybrid working: 4 days on site at Laverstoke Park Farm (RG25 3DR), 1 day from home
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
