Overview

The Site Supervisor is a hands-on operational leader responsible for the day-to-day coordination, quality delivery, and safety of all on-site installations—from setup to completion sign-off. You will transform design plans into high-quality wooden play spaces, ensuring adherence to Earth Wrights’ standards, budgets, and project timelines.

You will supervise and motivate a small team of carpenters and landscapers, coordinate subcontractors, and act as the primary on-site contact for the PDM and clients. This role requires practical experience in carpentry and/or landscaping, strong leadership, and a willingness to work outdoors and “muck in” as needed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Execution & Quality Control

  • Oversee and execute the daily work schedule, ensuring all tasks (timber structures, surfacing, groundworks, landscaping) are completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Implement construction plans and technical drawings with precision.
  • Conduct continuous quality checks and ensure compliance with ROSPA inspection standards.
  • Manage the proper use, maintenance, and safe storage of all site equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Address and complete any required rework promptly.

2. Team Coordination & Safety

  • Act as the central on-site coordinator, leading and motivating the site team and coordinating subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Lead site inductions and daily toolbox talks, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to all Health & Safety policies, site-specific RAMS, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor attendance, timekeeping, breaks, and leave/sickness procedures.
  • Provide practical instruction and problem-solving support to the team.

3. Communication & Reporting

  • Communicate daily progress (including photos) to the PDM and office, flagging issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate site diaries, recording work accomplished, materials used, labour hours, and any incidents.
  • Assist the PDM with material checks, site sign-offs, and client progress reports.
  • Act as the primary on-site contact for clients during installation, ensuring their expectations are met.

4. Planning & Organisation

  • Prepare method statements and ensure the availability of tools, materials, and resources.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and organise site logistics efficiently.
  • Support the PDM in budget tracking and resource allocation.

Requirements

Essential

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in carpentry, landscaping, or playbuild construction.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role, managing small site teams.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements for construction sites.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, hands-on attitude with a natural ability to coordinate and lead teams.
  • Full clean driving licence (regular travel and overnight stays required).

Desirable

  • Construction-related qualifications (e.g., SSSTS, SMSTS, Telehandler, Digger/Dumper tickets).
  • Familiarity with ROSPA play safety standards and quality control processes.

Note: Practical experience and industry knowledge are valued above formal certifications. Training and development opportunities (e.g., SSSTS, plant tickets) will be provided for the right candidate.

Earth Wrights is committed to diversity and encourages applicants from all backgrounds.
