Mechanical Estimator – Milton Keynes

Overview

In this Mechanical Estimator role, you will own and deliver robust mechanical estimates for a range of commercial projects from early enquiry to tender submission. You’ll shape bids by collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors and delivery teams, ensuring buildability and cost efficiency. The role strengthens the company’s pre-construction capability and supports winning projects in HVAC, heating and plumbing across M&E. You’ll work in a growing contractor environment that values practical, commercially viable estimates with a strong technical foundation.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of mechanical estimates from initial enquiry to tender submission
• Review drawings and specifications to produce accurate take-offs and cost plans
• Price labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to secure competitive quotations
• Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
• Collaborate with project and delivery teams to ensure practicality and viability of estimates
• Support tender submissions with clear, structured commercial information
• Stay updated on market rates, supplier costs and industry trends

Key requirements

• Proven mechanical estimator experience within building services or M&E
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, heating, plumbing)
• Experience on commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out or FM-related projects
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and tender docs
• Strong commercial awareness with numerical and analytical skills
• Proactive with ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
