Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £60,000 to £80,000

An opportunity has opened for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a building services company based in Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have experience of designing and implementing electrical systems within buildings and have a background designing solutions for power distribution, fire alarms, lighting and other security systems.

The role is open to people with more experience or if you’ve got a couple of years experience and looking to expand on that background, you will also be considered!

Electrical Design Engineer Key Skills:

• Experienced Electrical Design Engineer or Building Services Design Engineer with an electrical bias
• Knowledge of UK Building regulations and IET wiring regulations
• Background using Electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or Revit MEP
• Knowledge of UK Electrical codes and BS7671
• Any knowledge of LED lighting, renewable energy or smart building systems would be a bonus
• Understanding of Electrical installations and designs behind them

Electrical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

• Developing electrical design solutions for power distribution, fire alarms, lighting and security
• Ensuring designs meet UK Building Regulations and are fully compliant
• Designing electrical installation in accordance with BS7671
• Ensuring calculations are correct for the designs and reviewing specifications
• Using and overseeing AutoCAD and Revit MEP models
• Liaising with other teams and keeping in communication with clients about designs
