We’re on the hunt for two more Product Designers to join the team at Yonder, the London fintech behind the credit and debit rewards card members describe as “as if Time Out, Amex and Monzo had a baby”.
These roles are for designers who already sweat the visual details and want to become true end-to-end product designers. You bring the craft. Yonder will help you build the product thinking and research skills that round it out.
About Yonder
Yonder combines credit and debit in one membership that’s fair, flexible and actually enjoyable. No jargon. No dusty points system. Just rewards that feel rewarding, from bao to beer to a boarding pass.
It’s a small, ambitious team, and design sits right at the heart of how Yonder grows. Design is how a new member decides they can trust them with their money. It’s how something as complex as a credit account becomes simple, clear and fun.
Yonder lives on a smartphone, and the bar for how it feels is very high.
About the opportunity
Yonder’s engineers can move faster than ever, and design is now what keeps squads moving. So the design team is growing to five, with these two Product Designers sitting alongside the senior designers.
You will be embedded in a squad and paired with a senior PM. The product is already in members’ hands, so what you design ships and gets used. Your PM will carry more of the product thinking at the start, while you build that muscle yourself.
You’ll also have Craig, Yonder’s Head of Design.
He made the same move from graphic design into product design, and he’s invested in getting you there.
The aim is simple: you arrive with strong craft, and you grow into a true end-to-end product designer.
What you’ll do:
- Craft experiences people love using. Yonder feels different from other finance apps because of how much the team obsesses over the craft. Your UI is a big part of that from day one.
- Work shoulder to shoulder with your squad. You’ll work in the open with your PM and engineers from the first sketch, so the final product feels like it was built by one team.
- Learn to run your own research. Designers at Yonder don’t sit at arm’s length from members. You’ll learn to test concepts, run usability sessions and turn what you hear into what gets built.
- Build your product thinking on real problems. You’ll work through knotty problems, like making a credit account as simple to understand as a current account, with support on the trade-offs.
- Balance speed with polish. Some weeks you’ll put scrappy ideas in front of members just to learn. Other weeks you’ll slow right down to get the details right.
- Grow into owning your product area end to end.
About you:
You’ll have a few years behind you designing for consumer digital products: apps, websites, launches. Maybe in-house, maybe agency. You might even have freelanced for a while.
Often you’ll come from a brand or visual background, or have a degree in design or visual communication.
Craft and detail are what you obsess over, and you can’t leave something alone until it’s right. You’ve got a baseline understanding of the broader product design process, but you might not yet have worked in a true end-to-end product design environment. That’s OK.
That’s what this role is for.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have a strong eye for detail. The little moments, style and craft that go beyond clean and minimalist. Your portfolio needs to show this.
- Know the fundamentals of graphic and UI design (layout, typography, colour).
- Have pushed a brand forward in a digital product, ideally a mobile app.
- Want to make product thinking and research your strengths.
- Share work early and use feedback well, and see PMs and engineers as creative partners.
Bonus points for consumer-facing apps or websites with a lifestyle or editorial edge.
This is probably not quite right for you if:
- Your strength is UX process and research, and visual craft is the part you’re still building. Here, we’re looking for a skill balance the other way round.
- You’d rather wait for instructions. Every squad at Yonder is business-critical, and you’ll be trusted to run with real problems early, with support.
- You want a fully remote role. Yonder is office-first: at least three days a week in Shoreditch, with everyone in on Mondays.
What’s in it for you:
- £55k–£65k salary + stock options, depending on experience
- 35 days’ holiday (27 days’ annual leave + 8 public holidays)
- Private healthcare with Bupa
- £750 a year learning and training allowance
- Up to 12 weeks’ enhanced parental leave after a year
- A structured progression process: fortnightly one-to-ones, quarterly peer perspectives, and time at the end of each week to reflect on what you’ve learned
The process:
- Intro call (45 mins) with Craig
- Take-home challenge: small and fun, a couple of evenings, presented back over a call
- On-site (2 hours) in Shoreditch: an app critique and a values interview
Diversity & Inclusion:
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences, regardless of age, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, or socio-economic background. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every point described, we still encourage you to apply – potential and perspective matter to us as much as experience.
If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please let us know. We’re happy to make reasonable accommodations to ensure a fair and accessible experience for everyone.
