Job Description:

Make your mark as a PR Account Director in the PR & Communications sector, based in Birmingham.

Client expectations in PR & Communications have shifted hard towards measurable outcomes, and agencies that can prove impact are winning the accounts that matter. This is an established, growing SME in Birmingham with a genuine reputation in the sector. They need a PR Account Director who can run accounts with authority, not just service them.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Lead a portfolio of client accounts, owning strategy, delivery and results across each one

Build senior client relationships and act as the trusted voice they call first, not last

Develop and pitch campaign strategies that combine media relations, content and digital PR

Manage and mentor account executives and managers, reviewing their work and raising standards

Spot growth opportunities within existing accounts and help bring in new business

Keep a close eye on budgets, timelines and reporting so nothing slips through

Here are the skills you’ll need:

Solid track record managing PR accounts at a senior level, agency side or in-house

Sharp media relationships and a genuine understanding of what makes a story land

Confidence presenting to clients and defending strategy under pressure

Strong writing skills. You’ll be expected to produce and approve high-quality copy fast

Team leadership experience, with the patience to develop junior staff properly

Commercial awareness. You need to understand margins, scope creep and account growth

Key perks and benefits:

Salary of £47,000 to £66,500, plus bonus scheme

Private medical insurance and a solid pension contribution

Hybrid working, giving you flexibility around the Birmingham office

Generous annual leave and genuinely flexible working arrangements

Clear progression path within a structured but growing business

Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?

PR & Communications keeps expanding as brands fight harder for attention and trust. Birmingham has become a real hub for agencies and in-house teams outside London, with lower costs and a deep talent pool feeding demand. Good PR people who can think strategically and write well are always in short supply, and that scarcity tends to pay.
