About the Role
Our client is a dynamic building contractor specializing in high-quality new builds and renovations across the Eastern Cape. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Foreman to join our team in East London . This is a hands-on role responsible for supervising daily construction activities on-site, leading a team of tradespeople and laborers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of workmanship. The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience in various construction trades, strong leadership abilities, and a keen eye for detail. You will be instrumental in translating architectural plans into reality, managing site resources, and upholding the company’s reputation for quality and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct daily construction operations on-site for new builds and renovation projects.
- Lead and manage teams of carpenters, bricklayers, painters, and other trades, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with project plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Implement and enforce site safety rules and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure quality standards are met and identify any defects or deviations.
- Manage site logistics, including the delivery and storage of materials, and the use of tools and equipment.
- Maintain daily site reports, documenting progress, manpower, and any challenges encountered.
- Liaise with the Project Manager or Site Agent regarding project status and any necessary adjustments.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the construction site.
- Assist in problem-solving on-site issues related to construction techniques or scheduling.
Requirements
- A trade qualification (e.g., Carpentry, Bricklaying) or a National Certificate in Construction Supervision.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Foreman or in a similar supervisory role on construction sites.
- Proven experience in both new build construction and renovation projects.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and finishes.
- Knowledge of South African building regulations and safety requirements.
- Strong leadership, motivational, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.
- Physically fit and capable of performing tasks on a busy construction site.
