Network Engineering Manager

Company: TechOhana Ltd
Apply for the Network Engineering Manager
Location: Manchester
Job Description:

Network Engineering Manager | Manchester (hybrid) | Up to £80,000 per year

An established telco business needs a Network Engineering Manager to lead the team that designs, builds and runs its national network, and TechOhana are helping them find the right person. Automation is the main focus for the next phase, and you’d be the one leading it.

You’ll own the network’s architecture, roadmap, standards and day to day health. You’ll lead the team through two team leaders and decide how it’s structured from here. A big part of the job is moving to an automated, source-of-truth-driven network. That means building out the source of truth, automating configuration and change, and growing the team’s skills to match. You’ll also own capacity planning, the hardware and software lifecycle, and the capex and opex behind them, and you’ll manage vendor and carrier relationships. You’ll sit on the wider infrastructure leadership team and work with the NOC, systems, data centre, product and service teams. When a major incident hits, you’re the senior escalation point.

  • Significant engineering experience in service provider networks
  • Strong knowledge of BGP, IS-IS or OSPF, MPLS or segment routing, and IPv6 at scale
  • A track record of leading an engineering team, including shaping its structure and handling underperformance
  • Network automation delivered in production, such as Python, Ansible, NetBox or CI/CD for network change
  • Knowledge of the UK broadband market and the Openreach exchange environment, including backhaul and interconnect
  • Hands‑on experience with more than one of Juniper, Cisco, Nokia or Arista
  • Owning a technical roadmap, capacity planning and budgets
  • Managing vendor and carrier relationships
  • Up to £80,000 per year
  • Hybrid in Manchester
  • A senior seat on the network and infrastructure leadership team
