Senior Creative

Company: Tottenham Hotspur Football Club
Apply for the Senior Creative
Location: London
Job Description:

Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur is an iconic English football club, playing in the Premier League and Women’s Super League. From North London to the world, our fanbase spans continents, cultures, and generations.

Tottenham Hotspur is a club that’s always dared to push boundaries, breaking new ground, and rewriting history. We are at our brightest when we’re all together. Our club, our teams, our community.

We are entering a new era at Tottenham with a new club strategy, new leadership, and a focus on putting our supporters at the heart of everything we do as we continue to strengthen our connection with our home, each other, and the DNA of our club. A big part of achieving this is through our marketing department, a centre of excellence responsible for our Brand (what we say), our Creative (how we say it), and our Digital strategy (where we say it).

The Role

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior Creative with ideas at the heart of everything they do.

Someone who can take a brief, a business opportunity or a half-formed thought and turn it into something bigger, sharper and genuinely unexpected.

You’ll help shape how Tottenham Hotspur tells its story – developing the creative platforms, campaign ideas and cultural moments that define how the Club shows up in the world.

We want to create work that is bold, original, culturally relevant and unmistakably Tottenham. Work that makes people stop. Work that starts conversations. Work that people remember.

Your ideas could become a major campaign, a hero film, a new cultural platform, a social moment or a single piece of content that cuts through.

You’ll work across brand, culture, campaigns, content, partnerships and commercial opportunities, turning ambition into creative ideas that connect with audiences and deliver results.

You’ll be a key creative voice within the team, working closely with designers, content creators, strategists, producers and external creative partners to turn ideas into exceptional work. You’ll report to the Head of Creative, contributing to the wider creative vision and helping raise the ambition of both the team and the work.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the storytelling and major creative moments for one of the biggest brands in world sport at an incredibly exciting point in its brand story.

About You

You are an ideas person first. You have an instinct for a great idea and the creative ability to turn it into something people want to see, share and talk about. You can start with a blank page, a complex brief or a vague opportunity and find the thought that unlocks it. You’re equally comfortable developing a huge campaign platform or finding the unexpected idea for a single piece of content.

You have a strong creative point of view. You challenge the obvious. You’re commercially aware without being creatively compromised, and culturally curious without chasing trends for the sake of them.

You know how to make an idea simple, powerful and distinctive.

You also know that great ideas rarely arrive fully formed. You’re generous with your thinking, open to collaboration and comfortable making the work better through other people’s expertise.

Exceptional creative strategic thinking, ideation and verbal craft is essential.

  • You’re not interested in making the safe version
  • You want to make the work people remember
  • You’re excited by the scale of Tottenham, but you’re equally interested in the small idea that can make one piece of content unforgettable
  • You’re restless, curious and ambitious for the work. You bring energy to a room, challenge the obvious answer and keep pushing until you find something better
  • You can take a loose thought and turn it into a campaign. You can take a campaign and find the idea within it that makes it sing
  • You believe football gives us a platform, but creativity gives us the opportunity to do something with it

What you’ll do

MAKE GREAT IDEAS

  • Turn briefs, opportunities and challenges into original, culturally relevant creative ideas that deliver against brand, cultural and commercial objectives
  • Develop big creative platforms that can shape campaigns, stories and experiences across multiple channels
  • Generate everything from major campaign concepts and hero films to social ideas, content formats, activations and smaller moments
  • Take nebulous ideas and turn them into clear, compelling creative concepts that people immediately understand and get excited about
  • Challenge the expected and find the idea nobody else in sport would have thought of
  • Keep pushing until the idea is distinctive enough to matter

SHAPE THE STORY

  • Develop the central thought, narrative and creative approach behind major campaigns and cultural moments
  • Turn insight and opportunity into storytelling that gives audiences a reason to care, engage and participate
  • Understand how an idea can behave differently across film, social, digital, experiential, OOH, partnerships and other channels without simply adapting the same idea everywhere
  • Bring inspiration from culture, music, fashion, art, entertainment and beyond sport to create work that feels current and relevant
  • Use exceptional copywriting, scripting and verbal craft to make ideas sharper and more memorable. Great conceptual thinking comes first

MAKE THE WORK BETTER

  • Jump into existing projects and workflows to sharpen the creative idea, strengthen the story and raise the ambition
  • Work closely with designers, filmmakers, content creators, strategists, producers, agencies and other specialists to bring ideas to life
  • Provide clear creative direction and know what the idea needs to succeed, from the first thought through to final execution
  • Present, sell and defend creative thinking with clarity, confidence and conviction
  • Challenge briefs and established thinking when there’s a better creative opportunity

RAISE THE BAR

  • Be a constant source of ideas, inspiration and creative ambition for the wider team
  • Inspire and challenge others, helping create a culture where brave thinking and exceptional craft are expected
  • Stay relentlessly curious about culture, audiences, platforms and the world beyond sport
  • Bring new perspectives, references and creative thinking into the Club
  • Help build a creative reputation for Tottenham that extends far beyond football

What we’re looking for

  • Significant experience as a Senior Creative, Creative, Copywriter or equivalent within a leading creative, brand, advertising, entertainment or culturally-led environment
  • A standout portfolio demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking and original ideas across campaigns, content and different channels
  • Proven experience developing creative platforms and integrated campaigns from initial idea through to execution
  • Experience creating ideas for major brand campaigns, cultural moments, films, content or activations
  • The ability to turn complex briefs and commercial objectives into simple, compelling creative ideas
  • Strong storytelling skills and an instinct for what will resonate with audiences and culture
  • Excellent presentation skills and the confidence to articulate, sell and defend creative thinking to senior stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating with designers, filmmakers, strategists, producers, agencies and other creative disciplines
  • Strong visual instincts and the ability to contribute to the creative development of the look and feel of an idea
  • A genuine understanding of social and digital culture, including how ideas behave across different platforms and formats
  • A broad cultural curiosity spanning sport, music, fashion, art, entertainment and contemporary culture
  • Experience in sport is not essential. Experience in creative agencies, entertainment, music, fashion, art, culture or other creatively led industries is highly valued
  • A track record of producing work that is creatively ambitious and commercially effective
