We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our MEP engineering team on the HS2 project.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of electrical engineering works throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring technical compliance, effective multidisciplinary coordination, and the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions in accordance with project specifications, relevant British Standards, and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and coordinate electrical designs, drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, HS2 specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Coordinate electrical design interfaces with mechanical, public health, structural, and civil engineering disciplines.
- Review design packages, technical submissions, and construction drawings to ensure accuracy, compliance, and buildability.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering support to site teams, resolving design queries and installation-related issues.
- Undertake electrical engineering calculations, including load assessments, cable sizing, containment design, and lighting calculations.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, site inspections, and project progress discussions.
- Support electrical installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and final handover activities.
- Identify design risks and contribute to value engineering, buildability assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, quality standards, and project procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in electrical engineering within MEP, building services, infrastructure, or the rail sector.
- Proven experience in electrical design, engineering calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, British Standards, industry regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Experience using electrical design software and CAD/BIM tools, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong communication, coordination, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience on major infrastructure or rail projects is desirable, with previous HS2 project experience considered an advantage.
