Location: Surrey (Hybrid) | Position Type: Contract 12 months (Outside IR35)

About the Role

Contechs is recruiting for an experienced Senior Virtual Build Engineer to support a leading automotive OEM. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning, execution, and reporting of virtual build activities across cutting-edge vehicle programmes.

Working within a cross-functional engineering environment, you will be responsible for identifying, coordinating, and driving the resolution of design, manufacturing, and integration issues to ensure programme milestones are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor virtual build activities across vehicle programmes.
• Review engineering CAD data and manufacturing feasibility using CATIA
• Identify, document, prioritise, and track virtual build issues through to closure.
• Coordinate engineering resolutions across Manufacturing, Design, Vehicle Development, Quality, and Programme Management teams.
• Challenge proposed engineering solutions and validate evidence of issue resolution.
• Maintain issue registers, action logs, programme dashboards, and KPI reporting.
• Support build readiness assessments and programme gateway reviews.
• Ensure all activities are delivered in line with programme timing and quality requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Significant experience within Automotive Manufacturing Engineering or Virtual Build Engineering at a senior level.
• Proven experience using CATIAwithin an automotive product development environment.
• Strong understanding of vehicle assembly processes, manufacturing feasibility, and engineering issue resolution.
• Experience coordinating activities across multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholder groups.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical reporting skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritise multiple issues within a fast-paced programme environment.
