This role is crucial for developing, validating, and applying advanced process simulation models to support design, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts across a wide range of chemical processes. You will work on challenging projects, providing critical engineering insights that drive efficiency, safety, and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles and extensive experience with industry-standard simulation software. This is a remote-first opportunity, allowing you to leverage your expertise from your home office and collaborate virtually with a global network of engineers and scientists. If you are passionate about using simulation tools to solve complex chemical engineering problems, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, calibrate, and validate steady-state and dynamic process simulation models using software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II, or similar.
  • Utilize simulation models for process design, optimization, debottlenecking, and troubleshooting of chemical plants.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario modeling to evaluate process performance under different operating conditions.
  • Collaborate remotely with project teams, R&D, and operations personnel to define simulation objectives and interpret results.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) based on simulation outputs.
  • Assist in the scale-up of processes from pilot to commercial scale through rigorous simulation studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations summarizing simulation findings and recommendations.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in process simulation technology and methodologies.
  • Provide technical support and training to other engineers on simulation best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of company standards for process simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in process simulation and modeling within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • Proficiency with leading process simulation software packages (e.g., Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD, PRO/II).
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and mass/heat transfer.
  • Experience in dynamic simulation and control system modeling is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
  • Experience with thermodynamic property packages and reaction kinetics is essential.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools is advantageous.

Benefits

  • This is a fully remote position offering excellent flexibility and work-life balance. Our client offers a competitive salary, comprehensive health benefits package, and a robust retirement savings plan. We are committed to employee development, providing opportunities for virtual training, professional certifications, and career advancement.
