We’re looking for an inspiring and strategic leader to become our next General Manager for the Carmarthenshire & Ceredigion Property Group. This is a rare opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of nationally significant places, including Dinefwr, Llanerchaeron, Dolaucothi and the spectacular Ceredigion coastline.
As General Manager, you’ll lead teams and volunteers across the portfolio, helping to protect and celebrate some of Wales’ most important natural, cultural and historic landscapes. You’ll provide visible leadership, oversee operational and financial performance, develop partnerships, and help shape the future direction of National Trust Cymru as part of its wider leadership team.
This is a varied role that combines people leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, business management and income generation. You’ll work closely with colleagues, communities, public bodies and partner organisations to increase access to nature, beauty and heritage, ensuring our places remain welcoming, relevant and sustainable for future generations.
We’re looking for:
- Proven experience of leading diverse teams, creating a culture where people can perform at their best and achieve ambitious organisational outcomes.
- Effective communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build trust, influence others and communicate a clear vision.
- A collaborative leadership style, with experience of bringing together colleagues, communities, partners and stakeholders around shared goals.
- Effective strategic and operational leadership skills, including experience of managing budgets, managing risk and organisational performance, with the ability to translate vision into practical action and lasting impact.
- A commercially minded and entrepreneurial approach, with experience of business planning, financial management, income generation and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.
- Experience of leading through complexity, change and transformation whilst maintaining focus on delivery and outcomes.
- A proven track record of building effective relationships with a wide range of audiences, including local communities, under‑represented groups, partners, volunteers and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of Welsh culture, heritage and communities, alongside a commitment to ensuring these are reflected, celebrated and shared through our work.
The Welsh language plays a vital role in the communities we serve. For this role, candidates must demonstrate Welsh language skills at a minimum Level 2, with support provided to work towards Level 3 within 12 months of appointment.
