Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare pupils thoroughly for national examinations using data-informed tracking, exam board strategies, and regular diagnostic feedback routines.
  • Develop students’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and real-world application of quantitative techniques.
  • Monitor, track, and evaluate student progress, implementing targeted intervention strategies to stretch high achievers and support learners needing additional guidance.
  • Participate in departmental enrichment activities, such as UKMT Maths Challenges, numeracy clubs, and cross-curricular STEM initiatives.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
  • A strong academic background with a degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Maths lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 experience is a bonus).
  • In-depth understanding of the GCSE Mathematics curriculum and examination board requirements (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR).
  • Strong classroom management, clear explanatory skills, and a genuine passion for making mathematics accessible and rewarding for all learners.

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS, commensurate with experience), with TLR opportunities available for candidates interested in Key Stage leadership or numeracy coordination.
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured onboarding for a smooth January start, and staff health and wellbeing initiatives.
