Project Manager/PMO Consultant – Defence & Security

Overview

In this role you will guide and deliver complex projects and programmes within PA’s Major Programme Services, applying flexible PMO practices to fit client needs. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive value and ensure alignment with client objectives. You will build insightful reports to support decision making and manage risks, budgets, and change. This position offers a collaborative, innovative environment with meaningful impact on defence, major projects, and public-sector initiatives. You will act as a trusted partner to clients and mentor junior team members, shaping outcomes through structured delivery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams from initiation to closure
• Develop and execute project plans including scope, goals, deliverables, resources and timelines
• Tailor project management approaches (Agile, Waterfall) to client context
• Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies with mitigation actions
• Maintain regular client communication and manage expectations
• Monitor budgets and resource allocation to meet financial targets
• Lead change management to facilitate adoption of new solutions
• Engage stakeholders and foster collaboration among participants
• Mentor and develop junior team members

Key requirements

• Sole British nationality
• At least 2 years’ experience in project management consulting/PMO or related roles
• Experience applying multiple PM methodologies and tools across contexts
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and motivate others
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certifications desirable (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile)
• Excellent written and verbal communication for clients and stakeholders
• Analytical mindset for problem solving and risk management
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration at all levels
