Commercial and Projects Solicitor

Overview

In this role you will provide expert commercial and procurement legal advice to support the Council’s services and regeneration efforts. You will draft contracts, advise on complex procurement, and guide insourcing/outsourcing, IP, academisation, and joint-use arrangements. You will also support external clients through the Council’s legal services arm, First North Law LLP, and manage your own caseload in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• drafting and negotiating contracts for supplies, services and works
• advising on complex procurement projects supporting regeneration and development
• providing guidance on contracts, grants, subsidy control and procurement processes
• legal advice on insourcing and outsourcing arrangements, IP matters, academisation and joint-use agreements
• supporting Council-owned companies and partnership models
• delivering specialist legal support to external clients through First North Law LLP

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILEX
• Experience in Commercial & Projects Law
