Safety Engineering & Continuous Improvement Manager, WHS Design & Engineering

Overview

In this role, you will own machinery safety across multiple sites, leading inspections and risk assessments to uphold safety standards. You will apply the EU Machinery Directive and harmonised standards, translating findings into consistent, safety-forward requirements. You’ll influence engineering and operations leaders to embed safety by design in equipment and processes. You’ll use data to identify gaps, drive improvements, and help scale a network-wide safety program. This is a mission-critical role within Amazon’s WHS team.

Responsibilities

• Lead machinery safety inspections and risk assessments across multiple sites
• Apply and interpret the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and harmonised standards
• Identify machinery and MHE risks and drive implementation of control measures
• Engage and influence functional leaders to build buy-in to Health & Safety standards
• Use data and metrics to identify gaps and drive improvements across sites

Key requirements

• English-language communication skills (written and verbal)
• Bachelor in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering
• Practical understanding of WHS risk assessment and safety standards
• Experience conducting machinery safety inspections and risk assessments across multiple sites under EU Machinery Directive
• Experience engaging and influencing functional leaders to build buy-in to Health & Safety standards
