Business Development Manager

Overview

As a Business Development Manager, you will drive new R&D tax work across the UK, building leads, delivering compelling presentations and closing contracts. You’ll develop a network of referral partners and navigate conversations with senior stakeholders to accelerate revenue growth. You work autonomously to meet KPIs while collaborating with support teams to win deals. This role offers remote UK coverage, a clear impact on clients’ innovation funding, and a path to broader business development leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a territorial pipeline for R&D tax work
• Identify and qualify new leads, arrange appointments, and deliver polished pitches
• Close contracts and contribute to revenue growth
• Build a network of referral partners through events and personal networks
• Negotiate with senior management while leveraging technical, legal, or financial support as needed
• Self-manage workload to meet KPIs and report to senior managers/directors

Key requirements

• Proven private client or professional services experience
• Track record from prospecting through to closing
• Strong understanding of the business development pipeline and its impact on revenue
• Commercial acumen with ability to understand R&D tax credit services
• Confidence to persuade, influence and challenge senior stakeholders
• Self-driven and independent with project management skills
• Knowledge of R&D tax credits, grants or related sectors is helpful but not essential
