Shift Engineer

Overview

As Shift Engineer at Ball, you contribute to safe, high-quality production and continuous improvement on the Kettering line. You will support maintenance, equipment reliability, and adherence to food safety and SOPs to help meet production goals and company plans. This role sits at the heart of a safety- and quality-focused manufacturing culture. You will work with a cross-functional team to keep operations running smoothly and drive tangible impact. This is a hands-on opportunity to grow technically while supporting Ball’s mission of sustainable packaging and global impact.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety practices and corporate directives to perform the work safely
• Support and follow food safety system guidelines
• Operate, adjust, and repair production and support equipment to meet specifications
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required
• Replenish supplies, materials, and parts for the area; manage hand tools
• Initiate, review, and follow standard operating procedures for the area
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department

Key requirements

• Job-related experience in manufacturing (minimum 2 years)
• Apprenticeship in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with preventative and planned maintenance
• Ability to assist with equipment breakdowns and line conversions
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain processes clearly
• Fluency in written and spoken English
