Apply for the COO / Head of Operations
Location: London
Job Description:

A high-growth, technology-driven investment firm is seeking a senior operational leader to build, scale, and oversee its global operating platform. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing quantitative trading business and take ownership of operations across trading, fund infrastructure, accounting, and corporate operations.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on builder with experience operating within a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, electronic market maker, or quantitative investment platform. This is not a maintenance role. The mandate is to create, improve, and scale the operational framework that supports a sophisticated multi-asset trading business.

  • Lead all operational functions across trading, fund, and corporate entities.
  • Oversee relationships with exchanges, prime brokers, clearing brokers, administrators, auditors, and key counterparties.
  • Manage trade lifecycle processes including clearing, settlement, financing, collateral, and market access.
  • Supervise fund operations, NAV production, reconciliation, valuation processes, and operational controls.
  • Drive automation, operational efficiency, and scalable infrastructure across the platform.
  • Partner with senior leadership on business growth, new strategies, market expansion, and product launches.
  • Build and develop operational teams while determining the optimal balance between in-house and outsourced resources.
  • Proven experience leading operations within a quantitative hedge fund, multi-strategy investment firm, electronic market maker, or proprietary trading business.
  • Deep understanding of exchange-traded markets, clearing processes, and prime brokerage infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting, NAV oversight, valuation methodologies, and reconciliations.
  • Experience building operational functions and teams within rapidly growing businesses.
  • Ability to engage credibly with traders, portfolio managers, quants, technologists, and external counterparties.

What Makes This Role Different?

The strongest candidates will come from quant multi-strategy hedge funds or electronic market makers / proprietary trading firms, with real trading infrastructure expertise (exchanges, prime and clearing brokers, settlement) and a credible understanding of fund operations and valuation.

This position offers the opportunity to shape the operating model of a fast-scaling investment platform from the ground up. Working directly alongside the CEO and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the firm’s next stage of growth, helping build a best-in-class institutional infrastructure to support an expanding global trading business.

Applications will only be considered from candidates who are authorised to work in the UK.
