We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to deliver a practical, responsive HR service across a varied employee population.

Reporting to the Head of HR, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day HR operations, employee relations and key projects. You’ll work closely with managers and employees, providing clear advice, maintaining accurate records and helping improve the employee experience.

This is a generalist role with no direct reports, offering responsibility across the full employee lifecycle.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, capability, flexible working and family leave matters.
  • Supporting organisational change, consultation, restructures and redundancy processes.
  • Advising and coaching managers on employment matters, applying policy and UK employment law consistently.
  • Overseeing employee administration, including offers, contracts, onboarding, contractual changes and offboarding.
  • Ensuring right-to-work checks, employee records and documentation are accurate, complete and maintained appropriately.
  • Coordinating performance reviews, development activity and recruitment support.
  • Working with Finance and payroll providers to ensure monthly payroll inputs and changes are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Supporting salary reviews and bonus processes, administering benefits and resolving employee queries.
  • Maintaining HR systems and producing accurate workforce reports covering headcount, turnover, absence and recruitment.
  • Coordinating HR administration for international employees, working with external payroll, employment and advisory providers.
  • Delivering HR projects, updating policies and improving processes to strengthen service quality and reduce unnecessary administration.
  • Supporting employee engagement, wellbeing and retention initiatives.

About you

You’ll bring:

  • CIPD Level 5, progress towards this qualification, or equivalent practical HR experience, alongside at least five years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong generalist HR experience and confidence managing a varied employee relations caseload.
  • A sound working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, consultation and redundancy processes.
  • Experience with HR systems, payroll inputs, employee benefits and workforce reporting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate employee documentation.
  • Good Excel and data-handling skills, including formulas, analysis and presentation of workforce information.
  • The confidence to advise managers, challenge constructively and recognise when to escort.
  • Strong organisation, discretion and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A practical, collaborative approach and a strong sense of ownership.

Experience supporting international employees or working in a regulated environment would be advantageous.
