Are you currently working in Customs or International Trade and looking for an opportunity to develop your career in a specialist area of compliance?
GRN Search Group is recruiting for a Customs Agent to join an established and growing business that is expanding its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) services due to increased customer demand.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundation in customs or international trade who enjoys working with customers, analysing information and developing new skills. Previous CBAM experience is not required, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Unlike traditional customs clearance roles, this position is more focused on client relationship management, compliance, reporting and training, offering structured Monday-Friday hours without weekend or on-call commitments.
The Role
Working closely with an experienced CBAM specialist, you will receive full training before gradually taking responsibility for your own portfolio of customers.
- Supporting the onboarding of new CBAM customers and managing existing client relationships.
- Reviewing import documentation and commodity codes to identify goods affected by CBAM regulations.
- Using specialist software to prepare compliance reports and assess potential financial liabilities.
- Explaining reporting requirements and compliance obligations to customers.
- Providing regular customer updates, monthly reports and ongoing account management.
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of customer training sessions and presentations.
- Liaising with customers through Microsoft Teams, telephone calls and occasional face-to-face meetings.
- Developing specialist knowledge of CBAM regulations and international trade compliance.
The Ideal Person
- Previous experience in Customs Administration, Customs Clearance or International Trade.
- Alternatively, a recognised customs qualification or completed customs training course.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Confidence working with figures, reports and Microsoft Office.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally.
- A willingness to learn and develop expertise in a specialist area of compliance.
What’s on Offer?
- Starting salary of £30,000, with the intention to increase to £32,000.
- Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm.
- NO weekend work or on-call requirements.
- Hybrid working – one day from home per week following training.
- Full CBAM training and ongoing mentoring.
