Aviation Fuel Operations Project Manager

Company: Outsource UK
Apply for the Aviation Fuel Operations Project Manager
Location: City of Edinburgh
Job Description:

Aviation Fuel Operations Project Manager

Edinburgh

£60,000-£70,000 plus annual bonus and benefits

Outsource’s client, Exolum, is one of the world’s leading fuel infrastructure and logistics businesses, operating critical aviation fuel networks that support major airports across Europe and beyond. Exolum plays a vital role in ensuring aviation fuel infrastructure is delivered safely, efficiently and ready for operation.

Due to continued exciting growth within its Global Midstream Aviation division, Exolum is seeking an Aviation Operations Manager to lead the commissioning, operational readiness and transition of major aviation infrastructure projects

The Opportunity

This is a unique role sitting between engineering, project delivery and operations.

You’ll help bring new and upgraded facilities into live operation, ensuring assets are fully commissioned, operationally ready and successfully handed over to operational teams.

Working closely with engineering, project and operations teams, you’ll support commissioning activities, operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, mobilisation and site start-up.

The role will initially be based in Edinburgh, with the expectation of regular site presence. Longer term, you should be comfortable with UK-wide travel and project assignments as Exolum delivers future infrastructure projects, with potential opportunities to support international projects where required.

What We’re Looking For

Whilst this role supports Exolum’s aviation business, previous aviation industry experience is not essential. Candidates with commissioning, start-up, operational readiness or transition experience gained within other safety‑critical and highly regulated industries are strongly encouraged to apply.

Ideally, you’ll bring some of the following:

  • Experience commissioning and starting up industrial facilities or complex infrastructure
  • Background within energy, chemicals, oil & gas, fuel storage, terminals, aviation or another safety‑critical industry
  • Experience in commissioning, mobilisation, start-up, handover or operational transition projects
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent technical background
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • Experience working within high‑hazard or highly regulated environments
  • Aviation fuel or JIG knowledge would be advantageous, but is not essential
  • Flexibility to travel and support future projects across the UK and, where required, internationally

Relevant military engineering or technical operations backgrounds would also be considered.
