This is an exceptional opportunity for a subject specialist, whether an experienced practitioner or a corporate professional with teaching credentials, to foster strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset across a high-achieving student body.

About the Role

As a Teacher of Business Studies, you will bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world corporate strategy, finance, and marketing. Joining the school for the spring term, you will deliver high-rigor, interactive lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE / Applied Business) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Business / Applied Qualifications), analyzing modern business models, financial decision-making, global market dynamics, and leadership strategies in small, seminar-style classes.

  • Start Date: January
  • Environment: A prestigious independent co-educational school recognized for academic ambition, small class sizes, cutting-edge learning spaces, and high rates of student progression into top business schools and Russell Group universities
  • Culture: A collaborative, forward-thinking environment equipped with modern digital business suites, real-time market tracking tools, and supportive leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-rigor Business Studies lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 that develop critical evaluation, financial analysis, and strategic problem-solving.
  • Prepare GCSE and A-Level candidates thoroughly for national examinations and coursework units using structured feedback, case-study coaching, and data-driven progress tracking routines.
  • Integrate current global market trends, corporate case studies, and real-world economic events into the curriculum to cultivate genuine commercial awareness.
  • Track, evaluate, and monitor individual student progress, implementing targeted extension tasks for high-aspiring entrepreneurs while providing dedicated support for developing learners.
  • Lead or contribute to co-curricular enterprise programs, such as Young Enterprise competitions, student startup incubators, investment clubs, and corporate networking events.

Requirements

  • A strong academic degree in Business Studies, Business Management, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline (Qualified Teacher Status / QTS is welcomed, though equivalent independent sector or higher education teaching experience is valued).
  • Demonstrated capability or proven experience teaching Business Studies across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (A-Level experience is highly desirable; familiarity with exam boards such as Edexcel or AQA is preferred).
  • Strong understanding of corporate structures, financial accounting, marketing strategy, and international trade.
  • Excellent classroom presence, real-world analytical skills, and an infectious enthusiasm for commerce, innovation, and enterprise.
  • Willingness to participate in the broader pastoral and co-curricular life of an independent school community.

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Independent School Salary Scale (highly competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications).
  • Generous pension scheme, significantly reduced class sizes, extended school holidays, funded continuous professional development (CPD), daily complimentary lunches, and staff wellbeing programs.
