The Opportunity
GRN Search Group is recruiting for an experienced Driver Trainer to join an established transport and logistics operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, hands-on professional who can take immediate responsibility for driver training, assessments and compliance, while supporting Health & Safety standards across the business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of driver competency, vehicle compliance and operational safety. The business is seeking an experienced individual who can hit the ground running, identify areas for improvement and take a proactive approach to driver development and safe working practices.
The Role
- Deliver driver training, inductions, assessments and ongoing competency development.
- Conduct practical driving assessments and identify individual training requirements.
- Monitor driver compliance, including vehicle walkaround checks, defect reporting and associated procedures.
- Support Health & Safety activities, particularly around driving operations, yard safety and vehicle movements.
- Promote safe driving practices and ensure drivers understand company policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records, assessment documentation and compliance reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve driver performance, operational efficiency and safety standards.
- Work closely with transport management to address training needs and compliance concerns.
The Ideal Person
- Proven experience in a Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor or similar transport compliance role.
- Strong understanding of HGV operations, driver compliance and road transport legislation.
- Experience delivering practical driver training and competency assessments.
- Good knowledge of vehicle safety checks, defect reporting and yard safety procedures.
- An understanding of Health & Safety within a busy transport or logistics environment.
- Confident communicator with the ability to coach, support and develop drivers.
- Highly organised, proactive and capable of working independently.
- Able to take ownership of the role with minimal initial training.
