Our client is a well-established, founder-led Microsoft partner delivering Azure and application modernisation services to organisations across the UK, in both the private and public sectors. Their reputation for delivery is excellent, and most of their work to date has come through referrals and long-standing customer relationships.
To support the next stage of growth, they are hiring a dedicated Business Development Manager. This role is focused primarily on winning new customers.
The role
You will be responsible for generating and closing new business, building a pipeline from scratch and owning every opportunity from first contact through to signed contract. You will report directly to the founders and work closely with the technical team, who will support you on scoping and solution design.
This is a hunter role. Applicants whose experience is mainly in account management or growing existing customers are unlikely to be a fit.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, approach and win new customers through outbound calling, LinkedIn, networking and events
- Build and manage your own pipeline, and forecast accurately
- Lead the sales process from first conversation through qualification, proposal and negotiation to close
- Sell Azure and application modernisation projects and services to IT directors, heads of IT and architects
- Bring in technical colleagues for discovery and solution design, while retaining ownership of the deal
- Develop relationships with Microsoft account and partner teams to generate opportunities
- Represent the business at industry events
About you
- A proven track record of winning new logos in a services or consultancy business, with results you can evidence
- Experience selling services or projects within the Microsoft ecosystem, such as Azure, .NET or application development
- Enough technical understanding to hold credible conversations with IT leaders (you do not need to be an engineer)
- Self-motivated and comfortable working without a sales manager or a large pre-sales team
- Strong written communication, including proposals and presentations
- Experience selling to the public sector, including through G-Cloud or other frameworks
- Existing relationships within Microsoft UK
What’s on offer
- Base salary of £60,000 – £70,000
- Direct reporting line to the founders, with real influence over how the business grows
