About the role

As IT PMO Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and evolving a robust yet pragmatic project governance framework that supports successful delivery across a diverse portfolio of change initiatives. Working across multiple stakeholders and business units, you’ll ensure projects are prioritised effectively, governed appropriately and delivered in line with strategic objectives.

You will also provide leadership and support to project delivery teams, helping to strengthen project management capability across the organisation. If you are passionate about driving project excellence, enhancing delivery maturity and building a high-performing PMO function, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the IT project and programme governance framework, including methodologies, controls, templates and reporting standards
  • Maintain an accurate and consolidated view of the IT project portfolio, including project status, milestones, budgets, resources, risks and dependencies
  • Coordinate portfolio planning and prioritisation activities, ensuring investment decisions align with business strategy, value and delivery capacity
  • Produce clear and insightful portfolio reporting for senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Facilitate governance reviews and stage-gate processes to ensure projects are appropriately sponsored, planned and controlled
  • Provide delivery assurance and constructive challenge to project and programme managers, supporting recovery activities where required
  • Oversee portfolio resource and capacity planning, identifying constraints and opportunities to optimise delivery
  • Partner with Finance to manage project budgets, forecasts, capital expenditure and financial reporting
  • Drive effective risk, issue, dependency and change management practices across the portfolio
  • Lead, coach and develop PMO team members while supporting wider project management capability development
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, delivery teams, Finance, Procurement, Architecture and external partners
  • Use portfolio insights and performance data to identify improvement opportunities and enhance overall delivery maturity

About you

  • Substantial experience within PMO, project, programme or portfolio management in a complex, multi-site or global organisation
  • Proven success developing or leading a PMO function and implementing effective governance
  • Strong experience in portfolio reporting, prioritisation, financial oversight and resource planning
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives, such as ERP, infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital or data programmes
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
  • Previous experience working in a food, pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing industry would be advantageous
  • A recognised qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent is desirable
